Logic Models

When you want to understand the full impact of your project.

LK Evaluation Consulting will partner with you to develop a logic model: a visual roadmap that helps you clearly connect your program’s activities to its intended outcomes, ensuring you are effectively and efficiently achieving your goals.

Clarifying the Path from Activities to Impact

A logic model is a powerful tool in program and project evaluation, and overall project planning, serving as a visual roadmap that links activities to outcomes and clarifies the underlying theory of change. By mapping the connections between resources, personnel,  activities, outputs and measurable outcomes, a logic model provides a structured framework that strengthens strategic planning and improves decision-making throughout the lifetime of your project. In fields like STEM education, computer science education, and engineering education, logic models help researchers and practitioners connect daily activities with long-term goals, ensuring alignment between project design and intended impact. Logic models can provide critical guidance to industry teams that might otherwise be distracted by high paced development and delivery cycles. Logic models also provide a foundation for formative evaluation, process evaluation, and summative evaluation, supporting both early-stage adjustments and impact assessment of results.

Meticulous; critical thinker; reliable; professional; responsible and challenging in a good way – what I mean by this last attribute is that you push me and the NRT project to stretch and improve. For example, I think of when you were helping me go through drafts of the ASU NRT Logic Model. With each successive draft, I thought we were done, but you pushed me to continue to think carefully and critically about the logic model, and ways to make it clearer, more accurate, and more comprehensive. Thus, the Logic Model and the project became better, and I appreciate you holding me accountable to improving the program

Building Alignment, Accountability, and Evaluation Strategy

For educational research and other complex technical initiatives, logic models are invaluable in creating a shared language for stakeholder engagement and building the basis for an effective evaluation plan implementation. Logic models support decisions about the selection of appropriate methods—whether surveys, interviews, focus groups, case studies, or document analysis—and help ensure that data analysis and measurement align with project objectives. Used alongside developmental evaluation, needs assessment, and ongoing monitoring, a well-designed logic model strengthens both accountability and transparency. Logic models ultimately support outcomes assessment by making clear how inputs and activities lead to meaningful change. Whether used in workshops, research collaborations, or large-scale initiatives, logic models can be essential tool for translating vision into measurable results.
